Is Counselling for Me?

We would normally have an initial consultation over the phone to see how we can work together and what you'd like to get out of therapy.
The call is informal and it’s an opportunity for you to tell me a little about your reasons for considering therapy, ask any initial questions you might have and to talk you through what you might expect.
Two important factors are feeling like you want to try it and trying it with someone you feel like you can connect well with.
Mutual Agreement
In your first session we would go over the counselling contract and discuss how we will work together. We will go over the confidentiality agreement and outline an ongoing framework to keep our work within safe and professionally appropriate boundaries.

We would also, discuss goals and expectations from counselling in more detail. We'll have an opportunity to get to know each other and agree on an approach that would suit you best.
Cancelation Policy

It is understandable that sometimes things come up and you may need to cancel or reschedule your session. However, a minimum of 24 hours notice is required if you needed to cancel or change your appointment. If notice is given within less than 24 hours and a 50% fee would still apply.

A minimum of a week's cancellation notice is also required if you decide that you no longer need counselling.
Ethics

As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) I abide by their code of Ethics and professional guidelines at all times. As part of that I also attend monthly supervision to ensure best practice.

I am fully certified and have a comprehensive therapist insurance ensuring a safe way of practicing and working with clients.
